Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates,Summary of Job Purpose:Assure safe and proper use of medication in hospital setting according to policies and procedures, regulations and highest professional standards. Population served based on scope of services in the department.Essential Job Responsibilities:Verifies physician's orders and visually screens them for any potential interactions, incompatibilities, etc., prior to dispensing.Maintain a medication record or drug profile for each inpatient or employee.Supervise and ensure accuracy of technicians work.Assure accuracy of all controlled substance records, according to hospital policies and procedures and applicable regulations.Assure accuracy of all controlled substance records, according to hospital policies and procedures and applicable regulations.Assist with development and implementation of programs and monitoring of the quality of care.Ensure safe and aseptic handling of all intravenous and mixtures prepared.Provide drug information upon request for medical and nursing staff.Assist in maintenance of accurate records of supplies, prescriptions filled, drugs dispensed.Participate in departmental performance improvement program.Displays analytical and basic problem solving skills. Communicates problems to manager as appropriate.Follows all time and attendance policies.Attends educational programs provided by the Hospital or those which are outside the Hospital that are related to job responsibilities.Essential Job Qualifications:Education: Pharm D 6 year degree preferred, possession of a BS degree in pharmacy from an accredited five year college.License :Valid NYS Pharmacist license and registrationExperience:Hospital experience preferred, new graduateswelcomedWorking Conditions:Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterityOccupational: Some occupational riskPhysical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
